Situated just  north of Mount Somers, Mid Canterbury, on Highway 72, also known as the scenic  route, 80 minutes from Christchurch, 30 minutes from Ashburton and 20 minutes  from Methven, and is surrounded by established trees, orchard, beautiful cottage  gardens and the breathtaking views of Mt Hutt, Mt Somers and the other mountains  of the Southern Alps.
Activities and Attractions

Join the many people who enjoy the heights and sites of skiing or snowboarding on Mt Hutt, just up the road.


We are close by many great walking tracks that range in all levels of  fitness. From the casual to the more serious hiker.
Jet Boating

With only a short distance to the Rakaia Gorge or Lakes you canbe taken on tours or can bring your own boat.


With the lakes and rivers so close you have the choice of all types of fishing.

Mountain Biking

With over 20 trails at Mt Hutt Bike Park - family friendly cross country trails - through to national series downhill courses. Its a great way to up your adrenlian.

Golf, skydiving, white ater rafting, heli flights,heritage trails, art galleries, farm tours, transport history museum. Or you may just want to relax and read or walk around the garden of The Old School House


A self contained unit, completely separate from the beautiful historic main homestead but close enough to walk for a delicious home cooked breakfast from home grown produce. The unit sleep two and is self contained with beautiful views of the foothills, farmland and the beatutiful and peaceful gardens.

Dining Room at The Homestead

Dining room at the Historic Homestead where you will be supplied a home cooked breakfast, utilising many in season home grown products. Evening meals can also be provided by prior arrangement.
